Over 10 Years of First Aid Training Experience – Outdoors and Industry:

  • Gritstone provide a range of First Aid courses suitable for both the outdoors or for any workplace – weather you’re an outdoor instructor, a manager, business owner, or simply a responsible person looking to improve your first aid skills, we have a course for you.
  • Our courses are all OFQUAL regulated, well respected, internally and externally verified and certificates are valid for three years. Our instructors love teaching first aid, have a teaching background as well as a background in outdoor activities; allowing their first aid knowledge to be grounded in real life experience. Our First Aid Courses can be tailored to the specific needs of an activity or workplace upon consultation. Select a panel below for specific details.   • All of our courses are tailor made to the clients and to the work place they operate in. If you feel none of our courses suit you needs, just get in touch and we’ll devise a regulated course which suits your needs.

Regulated First Aid Courses:

We deliver first aid courses that are strictly regulated by the awarding organisation – ITC First.  In turn, ITC First are regulated by OFQUAL. Why does this matter? Being regulated by an indepependent body means that our courses are delivered to the strictest, nationally recognised quality standards. This allows our first aid courses to be delivered as nationally recognised qualififcations – this is not just a “turn up and pass” course. Outdoor First Aid (16 Hour)

From £80 to £125 per person depending on group size

Outdoor First Aid (16 Hour)

This is not your ‘ordinary’ first aid course. This course is delivered by a highly experienced, multi activity instructor with many years of outdoor activity experience. The course is delivered in a no nonsense, to the point style which is easy to remember and easy to understand and apply to your outdoor context. There will be minimal PowerPoints and the course is heavily practical and encourages discussion and active participation.

16 Hour Outdoor First Aid – Peak District : Our Outdoor First Aid Course will validate all Outdoor NGBs including MIA, MIC, ML, SPA, BCU, BCA, TCL, MBL and is also suitable for D of E Leaders, Scout Leaders, Youth Workers, National Park Rangers or anyone working or simply enjoying the outdoors for leisure.

Outdoor First Aid (8 Hour)

From £60 to £90 per person depending on group size

Outdoor First Aid (8 Hour)

This is the shorter, one day Outdoor First Aid Course. This covers all of the elements of the first day of the 16 hour course and deals with many of the similar first aid issues encountered in the remote environment. However, being a shorter course the 8 hour course will not go into the same level of detail as the 16 hour course.

This course is ideal for those who need to know the basics of outdoor first aid, but who don’t need a fully regulated course. This course is also for those that are shorter on time and don’t need to revalidate their outdoor activity qualifications. 

The 8 hour course is also good for those that work in the outdoor environment  but are perhaps less further from help.

    The Emergency First Aid at Work is your essential workplace first aid course.

    Do you or your staff know what to do in the event of an emergency?

    Can you deal with an unconscious colleague if the situation arises?

    With widespread use of mobile phones, ever more efficient ambulance response times and significantly less heavy, machine based industry this six hour course is everything most modern workplaces will ever need. The course will give you the skills to manage incidents and accidents for those vital moments it takes before the emergency services arrive.

    This course will equip your staff to deal with “the big things;” the more common threats to life in the workplace as well as some more everyday injuries and illnesses.

The first Aid at work course allows employees to have a greater depth of first aid knowledge, while this longer course also gives us more time to tailor the content the clients’ specific needs.

            Why choose us?

            We have been delivering first aid courses in all settings from the outdoors to industry, child and adult settings since 2013. We’ve sent hundreds (possibly thousands) of qualified first aiders into either the outdoors or the work place.

            All of our First Aid Courses are OFQUAL and ITC regulated. Your certificate is a nationally recognised qualification which is valid for three years.

            Our courses are sold on the fact that they are truly practical, this is not the old-fashioned course where candidates stare at a screen all day. Our courses are engaging, practical memorable and fun.

            I / We have never done a First Aid course before, Does it Matter?

            No – our courses are very accessible and no prior first aid expereince is needed.

            Yes, this is what we do. Just let us know about your workplace or environmental hazards and we can build that into your course. 

            Amazing experience outdoor climbing! We came as a couple and had some experience although this was our first proper experience of outdoor climbing. Al gave us a thorough introduction and then catered the day to our needs, choosing routes which were challenging yet fun. We even had a brief introduction to lead climbing as that was something we were interested in. Learnt a lot and had an amazing time, always felt very safe. Went away from the day feeling excited about climbing in the future and definitely hope to have another day with Gritstone in the future!

            Another great climbing course organised by Al at Gritstone (third one!), this time the Learn to Lead course. We were a group of four so were split between two instructors, Hannes (who we've been on a course with before) and Simon. Both proved to be amazing instructors and made the most of our first day at Stanage Edge knowing that the Sunday would be difficult due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. On the Sunday we suggested that we would get more out of a day at Awesome Walls in Sheffield away from the awful weather and they were able to put together a session looking at movement techniques, rope work, techniques for belaying a lead climber, etc, that was equally amazing. I came away almost glad the weather changed our plans as we were able to learn so much indoors. I cannot recommend Gritstone highly enough and we will be back again in the spring for the multi pitch climbing course.

            I have very little climbing experience and Al and Chris got our whole group climbing routes that we never would have thought we could do, giving us confidence and motivation to tackle some very steep climbs and a really fun experience too

            I just had a great weekend with 3 friends climbing and learning with Chris. This was my first time climbing outside, and with an easy and friendly manner, helpful advice and expert knowledge Chris made the weekend very enjoyable and informative. He was able to judge our ability well to put us on routes that were challenging but still achievable and fun. We all learned a lot and gained so much confidence is a really short time. We're already planning the next trip with gritstone.

            Had a great few days climbing with Gritstone Adventure's. First day was with Al on the prepare to lead course. Al gave us a refresher and intro into what to expect with leading and took us on some climbs around the peaks to get us up to speed. The second and third day was on the learn to lead course with Charlie. Again built up our knowledge and confidence whilst highlighting safety at all times. Had a fantastic few days, both instructors were very knowledgeable, chilled and engaged with all our questions. The courses put us in good stead in having our first independent lead climb experience. Thanks Al and Charlie!!!

            Fantastic day with private climbing for myself and my partner. We were beginners but Al was amazing at teaching us and choosing climbs that were fun and felt really great when we completed them. The entire day ran so smoothly and flew by. Al was very knowledgeable and taught us loads about the different types of climbing. It was a brilliant day that we would definitely do again.

            Amazing experience. Al was a great instructor, very knowledgeable and patient. Accommodated to us as we had experienced climbers and newbies he even taught me how to lead climb at the end which is something I hadn’t done before. Highly recommend.

            Fantastic day of climbing led by Chris. Our two teenagers thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learnt loads, and we were reassured by Chris’ expertise. We very much look forward to next time!
