Gritstone Adventures hold an AALA Licence – this is the Health and Safety Executive licence which legally allows us to deliver activities for under 18s. Gritstone is owned and operated by an experienced ex-school teacher and qualified outdoor activity instructor. We know how to get the best from teenagers and children and believe strongly in experiential learning. We believe there is no better way to learn about yourself than through adventurous activities. The value to young people from challenge, teamwork and adventure is vastly important and can influence youngsters in long lasting way that permeates into all areas of their life and learning. Getting outdoors is the best way to broaden the horizons of young people – instilling a sense that there is a wider world out there to be explored.
All of our instructors have worked extensively with children and young people and hold a current DBS. Our instructors understand that activities should be differentiated so that each young person can make equal progress during an activity. Instructors are approachable and know how to set youngsters at ease while still challenging them to an appropriate level. Our instructors are the best in the business.

I’m an absolute beginner – is this for me?
Yes – we specialise in introducing people to outdoor activities for the first time. We understand that there will be a mix of ability in your group and we are every well used to dealing with this – everyone will get a lot from your booking.
Is Equipment Included in the Price?
Yes, all equipment is included in the price.
Can you tailor the booking to our needs?
Yes, this is what we do. Our activities have structure but are very flexible and really, all of our activities and training courses are flexible and adaptable. This is your day, not ours.
Where will we do the activities?
We have a range of venues around the Peak District but none of them are more then a 30 minute drive from each other and some are just a five minute drive apart.
Do You Provide Transport?
I’m afraid we cannot provide transport, you will need your own. We can hire transport for you and you pay the transport company directly.
